CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – While it was probably a joke or maybe even a publicity stunt, there’s no denying that former Cleveland Cavalier and now Miami Heat forward LeBron James knows how to stir the pot.
Last week he was down in Akron having a little fun working out with the St.Vincent/St.Mary football team. He put on full pads and worked out with the team, “not dropping a pass” while catching balls according to one of the players on the team.
Today, James really stirred the pot, throwing out a tweet to ESPN NFL Insider John Clayton, in which he asked Clayton simply – “When is the deadline for a team to sign a free agent?”
By reading the tweet, and knowing that James as well as the other players in the NBA are not playing anytime soon due to the lockout, you may think that James wants to ink with a team in the NFL.
Clayton, always good for information, gave James an answer, coming about two hours later.
“LeBron, sorry to get back to you so late. Trade deadline next Tuesday 4 p.m. Free agency goes until last team is eliminated. Game on.”
So basically, if James is serious about trying out and playing for a team in the NFL, he can do so all the way through the end of the season. Already people are speculating that the tweet was just meant as a joke, but with James, you just never know.
