MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) — The lead singer of a Christian metal band is accused of having sex with an underage girl.

Derek Brunsveld, 24, the lead singer of Ludlow Falls, was arrested Friday for the alleged incident.

Miami County police say it’s unlikely his alleged victim was his first and suspect that Brunsveld used his status in the popular band to convince other young girls to have sex with him. They say a 15-year-old and 14-year-old may have been victimized.

Brunsveld used Facebook and Myspace to contact his victims, police said. They added a school resource officer first brought the issue to their attention when he heard these allegations from students and staff.

Brunsveld is a graduate of Milton-Union High School, and his Myspace profile said he’s seeking a degree in journalism from Sinclair Community College, which he has attended since 2008.

Since his arrest, his Ludlow Falls removed him as the lead singer on its Facebook page. Fans’ reactions have ranged from sickened disappointment to requests to replace him.

Brunsveld is in jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is expected in court later this week.

Police ask anyone who may have information about Brunsveld and alleged conduct with girls to contact Det. Amber Mahan at (937) 440-3965, Ext. 6632.
