CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Gladiators wide receiver Dominick Goodman has been named the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, the Arena Football League office announced Tuesday.
Goodman is the second Gladiator in 2012 to receive league honors. John Dutton earned the same honor following his week four performance.
In Saturday night’s loss to the Jacksonville Sharks, Goodman led all receivers with 17 catches, 189 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The 17 receptions tied the Gladiators single-game record, set twice by Ben Nelson and Chris Johnson, both during the 2010 Gladiators season.
His 189 receiving yards is a season-best for the Gladiators.
“Dominick is a sure-handed receiver who continues to make big plays for us,” Gladiators head coach Steve Thonn said. “This is a tremendous honor and it is well-deserved.”
Goodman leads the AFL in receptions with 68 and is sixth in the AFL in receiving yards per game (109.7). His 15 receiving touchdowns lead the Gladiators and are tied for sixth in the AFL.
Goodman prepped at Colerain High School in Cincinnati and was an All-American as a senior. He played collegiately at the University of Cincinnati from 2005-2008, where he finished his career with 204 catches for 2,512 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Bearcats.
