CLEVELAND (AP) — A U.S. Coast Guard crew has rescued two men whose kayaks capsized near Middle Bass Island State Park.
Coast Guardsmen were towing a disabled vessel when they spotted the men in the water waving to get their attention at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Their kayaks had capsized and they couldn’t get back into them.
The Coast Guard says the men, a 29-year-old and a 32-year-old, had been wearing life jackets but one man’s fell off and he was clinging to it. They’d been in the 65-degree water for about 45 minutes before they were rescued. They had no means of communication with them.
The men were brought aboard the Coast Guard boat and taken to Put In Bay. Emergency workers evaluated and released them.
Their names are not being released.
