CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is having what many feel should turn into an All-Star invite type of season for the Tribe, hitting .284 with 11 homers and 41 RBI.

While Kipnis is thriving in his second season, the Indians are struggling, losers of five out of six after Sunday’s awful 9-5 setback to the Pirates.

“We know we gotta play better, we haven’t been playing good lately, all the way around,” Kipnis said after the game. “Usually defense has been good for us but today it kind of let us down, other than that I think the pitching and the offense has to step it up here.”

A lot of fans are stating that the Indians need to make a move to acquire a player or two that will come in and give them a boost for the second half of the season.

Some experts have said the Indians will be active in the trade deadline, and Kipnis says deal or no deal, the Tribe can win with what they have.

“I’m sure from a third-party perspective and on paper you’ll see the needs more than we can,” Kipnis said. “At the same time I like what we have in this locker room, and I think we can win with what we have in this locker room. I’m not too worried if no moves are not made.

“If moves are made and the guy comes in and helps us, all the better. If not, I think there’s no excuses that we shouldn’t go out and win.”
