CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians embark on a long road trip starting in Houston tonight, and the team made a move with a former first-round pick today, dumping him to the Cincinnati Reds.
That player is Beau Mills, who today was sent shipping to Cincy for cash.
Mills was the Tribe’s first-round pick, 13th-overall, in 2007. He was a first basemen, a position he would have filled in nicely at if he ever would have lived up to the potential.
He did have a solid start of his minors career, hitting 21 homers and plating 90 RBI for the Kinston Indians at 21 years old. He fell from there, as going to the higher levels of the minor leagues never worked out for him.
Mill was hitting .197 this past season in Columbus, with 7 homers and 21 RBI. Following the trade, Mills was immediately assigned to the Reds Double-A franchise in Pensacola.
