CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – With amny feeling that the Indians are going to be aggressive in the trade market this season, there’s a report they may have their first target in sight – that being Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis.

Youkilis is not in the lineup for the third straight day with the Red Sox, and ESPN’s Jim Bowden is reporting the Sox want him moved by the end of Saturday – either to the Indians, Dodgers or White Sox.

The veteran told reporters before the Red Sox game vs the Braves that’s not too happy about missing another game, and that he feels he is healthy.

“You want to play. I definitely want to play the game and enjoy it and have fun,” Youkilis said. “I don’t know my situation. To be honest, I was never told what’s going on here — let’s get that straight.”

As far as being traded, Youkilis says that he’s not going to talk about it, and that he’s happy where he’s at.

“I have no thoughts on anything and I haven’t been told anything, so until I’m told anything I can’t really respond,” Youkilis said.

The 33-year-old is making $12 mil this season with the Sox, and his contract calls for a $13-million team option with $1-million buyout for 2013. Include the buyout, and Youkilis has $7.81 million headed his way over the remainder of his deal.

He’s hitting just .225 this season after missing a lot of it with low back discomfort. The Sox have moved on without him, and have 23-year-old Will Middlebrooks at the hot corner, and he is having a great season, hitting .319 with 8 homers and 31 RBI.

If the Indians want Youk – the question would be what they would give up for him, as well as what do they do at third, as Jack Hannahan appears back from his injury, and Lonnie Chisenhall is there as well right now.
