CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Indians scouts are out doing what they can do to their homework on players the team may look to acquire via trade before the end of July deadline.
Friday there was a report that the team had been out scouting Cubs right handed pitcher Matt Garza, who is 4-7 this year with a 4.32 ERA.
Fox Sports contributor Jon Morosi filed the report, stating the Indians are one of several teams interested in Garza. Among those also in the mix – Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals.
The 28-year old starter has thrown 93.2 innings in 16 starts with the Cubs this season. The Indians have talked about adding both pitching and hitting before the trade deadline, and Garza is a name to add to the mix of players the club may talk to the Cubs about.
