CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians added some bullpen insurance by signing left-handed pitcher J.C. Romero to a minor league contract on Saturday. He has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
The 36-year old Romero opted out of his minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles last month, making him a free agent. Romero only pitched in the big leagues this season for St. Louis, posting a 10.13 ERA in 11 appearances.
Romero owns a career ERA of 4.15. In his 14-year career, he has pitched with the Minnesota Twins, Philidelphia Phillies, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels.
