CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Seems like a lot of Indians wives decided this was the summer to have babies. For the third time this season, the Indians are losing a player to paternity leave.
Travis Hafner is the next dad to be to go on the list, joining Johnny Damon and Shelley Duncan, who both have spent a few days on the list already in the 2012 season.
The Indians have called up INF/OF Vinny Rottino, who was hitting .304 with 8 homers and 57 RBI in 66 games with the AAA Columbus Clippers. Rottino came to the Indians via waivers from the New York Mets back on June 27th.
Hafner this season is hitting .239 with 10 homers and 39 RBI. He’s in the final year of a deal that is paying him $13 mil per season, and speculation is already high he won’t be an Indian in 2012.
For Rottino, it’s at least 72 hours to make at least a small impact on the front office of trying to stick at the Major League level.
