BEREA (92.3 The Fan) - It didn’t take long for new Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III to make his presence felt.
Haslam walked onto the practice field Friday morning, a day after agreeing to buy the team from Randy Lerner for $1 billion.
Haslam was accompanied on the field by his wife Dee, father Jimmy Haslam Jr., as well as current president Mike Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert.
“It was great talking with them today,” Heckert said. “They seem anxious and excited and we are too.”

Heckert didn’t want to answer questions speculating about his future with the ownership change.
“I’ve not talked to them about that,” Heckert said. “We were just out watching practice. That’s all we’ve done.”
Coach Pat Shurmur met with Haslam briefly before practice and shook hands with him during the session Friday morning.
“You’re gonna find them to be very passionate people, very excited to own the Cleveland Browns,” Shurmur said. “It’s a great mix for the team, the fan base and our city. I saw the passion in his face and felt the passion in his handshake.”
Quarterback Colt McCoy, running back Trent Richardson and linebacker D’Qwell Jackson were among the players who stopped over to shake his hand and introduce themselves in between drills.
Haslam will formally be introduced at a press conference Friday afternoon at 1.
