CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - The City of Cleveland has added additional signage to the Muni Lot informing patrons of city ordinances that are already in place banning open containers, consumption of alcohol and public intoxication.
Newer signage with the reminders were posted this week in advance of the Browns preseason home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles Friday night at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The new signs read: “POLICE ORDER Open containers of alcohol prohibited (617.07), Consumption of alcohol prohibited (617.021, 617.04, 617.12), Public intoxication prohibited (605.13).”
Det. Jennifer Ciaccia, Assistant Public Information Officer – Cleveland Division of Police, said that open containers have always been prohibited in The Muni Lot and it is not a change in policy or law.
“It’s the policy of Cleveland police that all applicable laws that can be enforced will be enforced,” Ciaccia said. “Open container laws can be enforced in the Muni Lot.”
Ciaccia added that there is not special program put in place for the upcoming season to enforce the ordinances.
