TOLEDO (AP) — Former Ohio State defensive end Kenny Hayes has transferred to the University of Toledo.

Hayes, out of Whitmer High in Toledo, will be eligible to play in 2013 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Hayes was an all-state, all-league and all-district player at Whitmer. He had 47 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks as senior and was selected as the district’s defensive player of the year. He also was an all-city selection in basketball.

He sat out the 2011 season at Ohio State as a redshirt.

Toledo coach Matt Campbell announced Hayes’ transfer on Tuesday.
