CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - The Indians today announced the club has activated third basemen Lonnie Chisenhall from the 60-day disabled list.
The 23-year-old suffered a broken right ulna (forearm) after being struck by Jake Arrieta pitch on June 29 at Baltimore and was placed on the Disabled List the following day.
Prior to his injury, Lonnie had split the 2012 campaign between Cleveland and AAA Columbus. With the Indians he has hit .278 (20-72) with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 9RBI in 24 games (.755OPS) from May 28-June 29.
He began the season with the Clippers, hitting .324 (36-111) w/12 2B, 4 HR and 17 RBI in 28 games (.353OB/.541SLG/ .893OPS). He appeared in 2 games with AAA Columbus on a rehab assignment beginning on September 2nd and most recently appeared in 3 playoff games with the Akron Aeros. He wears #8 and arrived in Minneapolis this morning.
The Indians Major League roster now stands at 34 players. To allow room for Chisenhall on the 40-man roster, pitcher Josh Tomlin has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day Disabled List.
