BEREA (92.3 The Fan) - Receivers Mohamed Massaquoi and Josh Cribbs along with safety T.J. Ward did not practice Monday.
Cribbs sustained a concussion following a violent hit during a punt return Thursday night in Baltimore.
Cribbs hit his head hard on the turf after his helmet was knocked loose during a collision with Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe in the first quarter. He laid on the field for a few minutes before walking off under his own power.
Ward suffered a a right thumb injury against the Ravens and underwent surgery “a few days ago” coach Pat Shurmur said Monday. The procedure was similar to one that special teams ace Ray “Buba” Ventrone underwent.
Massaquoi has missed a week with a hamstring injury which he sustained against Buffalo.
Receiver Travis Benjamin (undisclosed), tight end Alex Smith (concussion) and defensive back Tashaun Gipson (knee) also did not practice Monday.
“We’ll put the guys on the field that can play,” Shurmur said.
Shurmur declined to give specifics on any of the players who didn’t practice other than to say they were “day to day.”
With Cribbs, Massaquoi and Benjamin sidelined, the only receivers who practiced were Greg Little, Jordan Norwood, rookie Josh Gordon and rookie Josh Cooper, who is a member of the practice squad.
The Browns, 0-4 on the season, began preparations to travel to New York where they will face the defending Super Bowl champion Giants on Sunday.
