Ohio State QB: ‘Why Should We Go To Class If We Came Here To Play Football’

COLUMBUS, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) — An Ohio State University backup quarterback fumbled big time on Twitter.

Cardale Jones, a third-string quarterback for the Buckeyes, tweeted that he doesn’t understand why football players need to go to class.

“Why should we go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain’t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS,” Jones tweeted. The freshman quarterback has deleted his Twitter account since posting the tweet.

According to his Ohio State football profile page, Rivals.com rated Jones the No. 12 ranked prep school player in the nation in 2011 and enrolled at the university this past January.

Ohio State officials have yet to comment about the tweet.

The 12th-ranked Buckeyes will take on No. 21 Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday.
