CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Terry Francona stated Monday he wanted his coaching staff to be completed in the next few weeks, and added another piece to that puzzle Wednesday.

The Indians have promoted AAA manager Mike Sarbaugh to Francona’s staff. Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer reports that Sarbaugh will be the first base coach and infield coach.

GM Chris Antonetti told Hoynes that a formal announcement about the hiring of Sarbaugh was not ready to be made.

Sarbaugh was the manager of the AAA Columbus Clippers for the past three seasons. He is is 697-511 (.577) as a minor league manager. The 45-year-old has spent the last nine years managing in the Indians minor league system.

He did spend some time with the Indians big league club, as he joined the team as a bench coach to interim manager Sandy Alomar Jr., following the firing of Manny Acta back on September 27th.
