Richardson Nominated For Rookie Of The Week Award
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson has been nominated for the ‘Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week Award’ for the second straight week.
Richardson rushed for 105 yards on 25 carries in the Browns’ 25-15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He joined Earnest Byner (1984) and Bobby Mitchell (1958) as the only Browns rookies to run for 100 yards in back-to-back games.
He also joined former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor (1998) as the only rookies to ever cross the century mark on the ground against the Ravens.
Also nominated this week were Indianapolis Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton and quarterback Andrew Luck, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
Hilton caught 6 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown in the Colts’ 23-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Luck completed 30 of 48 passes for 433 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Colts’ 23-20 win against the Miami Dolphins. Luck’s 433 yards set the record for single game passing yardage by a rookie.
Martin gained 251 yards on 25 carries and scored 4 touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ 42-32 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Wilson completed 16 of 24 passes for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Seahawks beat the Minnesota Vikings 30-20.
