Browns vice president of media relations, Neal Gulkis, released an official statement from the Browns regarding the report from WREG in Memphis.

“Jimmy Haslam has no involvement in the University of Tennessee head coaching search, and the report that Jon Gruden would potentially have an ownership stake in the Browns is completely erroneous.”

This is in response to NewsChannel 3 in Memphis‘s report that Gruden wouldn’t be coaching in Cleveland, but the Tennessee Volunteers, with a part ownership with Browns as an incentive.  Haslam is one of the school’s biggest boosters, while Gruden got his coaching career started at Tennessee as a graduate assistant in 1986.  Gruden has been a television broadcaster since leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008.
