CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Dion Waiters underwent an MRI Sunday on his left ankle after sustaining an injury during Saturday night’s double-overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Waiters injured his ankle during the second overtime against the Trail Blazers and X-rays were negative Saturday night and further testing Sunday confirmed that he has a sprained ankle.
Waiters, who was selected 4th overall in this year’s draft, will travel to Detroit Monday and continues to receive treatment the team announced in a statement Sunday evening.
He is officially listed as ‘questionable’ or 50-50 for Monday night’s game against the Pistons.
In 17 games this season, Waiters is averaging 15.2 points and 3.4 assists per game.
