CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Robert Griffin III, sporting a brace on his right knee, made one last ditch effort the show coaches and trainers he was good to go Sunday.
Griffin warmed up around 10:30 Sunday morning rolling out in both directions and throwing the ball but it wasn’t enough to get him on the field.
Griffin is inactive Sunday as the Washington Redskins look for a 5th straight win.
The Redskins announced late Saturday night that Kirk Cousins will start in place of Griffin. He will be backed up by veteran Rex Grossman.
Cousins came off the bench to throw a touchdown pass and run for a 2-point conversion in Washington’s overtime win against Baltimore last week.
The Browns enter the game as healthy as they’ve been all year after all 53 players on the active roster practiced for the second consecutive week.
Fullback Owen Marecic is inactive for the 6th time in the last 7 games. Brad Smelley, promoted from the practice squad on Monday, is also inactive.
Cornerback Trevin Wade, safety Eric Hagg, running back Brandon Jackson, offensive lineman Jarrod Shaw and receiver Josh Cooper are also inactive for the Browns.
