Varejao And Gibson Remain Out For Cavaliers
INDEPENDENCE, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Despite playing a team just coming off an 18-game losing streak, the Cavaliers know that a trip to Charlotte won’t be a piece of cake Friday night.
They will once again head on the road without top forward/center Andy Varajeo, who will miss his 8th game due to a contusion to his right knee.
Coach Byron Scott remains hopeful that the worst of the injury is over, and Cavaliers trainer Max Benton gave him an update on Varejao today.
“He says it’s steadily progressing, it’s just a really slow process,” Scott said after talking with Benton.
The even worse news is that with the schedule, Varejao probably won’t take the floor until at least next Wednesday when the team plays at home vs Atlanta.
With back-to-back games, Scott likes to have a player go through at least one practice until he takes the floor for real. With the slate as it stands, Varejao likely won’t get to practice until Tuesday.
Daniel Gibson remains out as well for the Cavs, and also won’t even make the trip to Charlotte. Gibson is still waiting on clearance from the NBA to play after suffering a concussion Friday vs Atlanta.
