CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao underwent successful surgery Thursday to repair a muscle split in his quad the team announced.

The surgery took place at the Cleveland Clinic, and Varejao is expected to be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks.

The initial injury took place back on December 18th in a home loss to the Raptors.

At first it was described as a contusion to his knee, but then things got more and more concerning as to why the recovery process was taking so long.

The surgery was performed by Cavaliers Head Team Physician Dr. Richard Parker and Dr. Jim Rosneck. Varejao is resting comfortably and will be admitted overnight.
