CLEVELAND (AP) — An 81-year-old woman has been sentenced to five years of house arrest in the hit-and-run death of a 13-year-old boy in suburban Cleveland.
Judge Hollie Gallagher sentenced Helen Fettes of Olmsted Falls on Monday in the October 2011 death of Charlie Kho as he walked near his home. The case was solved when an auto dealership called police about car damage that the owner didn’t want reported to police or her insurer.
The woman’s driving privileges were suspended for life, and she must pay $125,000 in restitution.
She was found guilty of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident and evidence tampering.
