CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam told Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer Tuesday that he will remain heavily involved in the team.
On Monday it was announced that Haslam was returning as CEO of Pilot Flying J after stepping down last September to focus on his purchase of the Browns.
After reconfiguring the front office including the hiring of Joe Banner as CEO, Alec Scheiner as president and Michael Lombardi as vice president of player personnel, Haslam felt it was a good time to resume his role with the family business.
Haslam clearly wanted to calm the nerves of fans who feared that he would become an absentee owner much like his predecessor Randy Lerner was by returning to the Knoxville, Tenn. based company.
But he told the paper that won’t be the case.
Haslam still plans to be heavily involved in the decision making process on a variety of fronts including free agency and the draft for the Browns.
