LOUISVILLE, Ky. (CBS Cleveland) - A local company is blurring the lines between dog food and “people food” by creating treats intended to be enjoyed by both man and his best friend.

The masterminds behind Little Eatz, Melissa and Sean Little, were inspired to start the company after adding a pug named Winston to their family.

“Winston would do anything for food; it didn’t matter if it was in his bowl, or on our plates, he wanted it,” the official website for Little Eatz explains. “We soon found ourselves doing what we knew pet owners shouldn’t  but often find themselves doing—sharing their table scraps with their dog.”

When the Littles learned about the potential health risks of feeding food intended for humans to dogs - in particular, chocolate and other sweet snacks – the duo took action.

“Still wanting Winston to feel like a part of our family, even at dinner time, we came up with the idea to make healthy treats that we all could share,” the website explains.

The snacks reportedly contain ingredients such as whole grain oats, apple sauce and vanilla extracts, in addition to a few other natural items which all come together to make three different varieties – Carob Chip, Cinnamon Crunch and Perfect Peanut Butter.

In addition to purchasing them through the website, they can also be bought in various stores in Kentucky and surrounding states.
