Indians Bring Up P T.J. House; Send Down Carrasco
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – With the pitching staff needing help on the verge of a long road trip, the Tribe today called up lefty pitch T.J. House from AAA Columbus.
The team optioned back to AAA righty starter Carlos Carrasco.
The 23-year-old House has gone a combined 3-8 with a 4.83 ERA in 15 starts between AA Akron and AAA Columbus this year (87.2IP, 93H, 47ER, 11HR, 33BB, 75K). The 75 strikeouts are second most among Indians Minor League pitchers in 2013.
Over his last 8 starts at Triple-A, his ERA is 4.56 (49.1IP, 51H, 25ER) and he is currently tied for.2nd in the International League with 2 complete games. House (#40) will be making his debut at the Major League level after spending the last 5 seasons since 2009 in the Player Development system.
He was originally Cleveland’s 16th round selection (501st overall) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
Carrasco struggled Sunday vs the Twins, and on the season is 0-3 with a 7.78 ERA in 4 starts over two stints.
