Salazar Bumped In Start Vs Angels, Indians To Start McAllister
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Tribe starts their three-game set vs the Angels tonight in Los Angeles, and have announced they have tweaked their pitching rotation.
Orgininally it was supposed to be rookie Danny Salazar going tonight against Jared Weaver, but the team is now going with Zach McAllister, and Salazar will sit.
The team said that tomorrow is still up in the air as to who starts, it could still be Salazar, but there’s other options such as possibly Daisuke Matsuzaka, who is still in Columbus with the AAA Clippers.
Matsuzaka has a 2.20 ERA in his last 7 outings, going an average of seven innings in those starts. He’s 5-7 with a 3.62 ERA in 18 starts this season with the Clippers.
As for Salazar, the team is right to keep down his innings, as they don’t want to push him too much in his first stint in the big leagues.
He’s already thrown 110.2 innings this season, last season he threw just 87.2 innings.
Justin Masterson will stay in his spot in the rotation on Wednesday.
