CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) - The Indians handed Brett Myers the number three spot in the rotation after signing him in January.
Thursday, he was released after missing nearly the entire season with an elbow injury. He finishes his nearly one season with the Indians going 0-3 with a 8.02 ERA.
Myers joins Mark Reynolds as two off season free agent signings that didn’t make it an entire season with the Indians.
Reynolds was released after a hot early start, but could never recapture the magic at the plate. He made $6 million, while Myers made $7 million this season.
Myers was a bust from the start, struggling in the spring, and then never showing much in his couple of starts with the Indians.
Eventually he was put in the pen, and then wound up on the DL. He struck out two batters in a rehab assignment on Monday, but the team had seen enough and released him.
