CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Now that the preseason has concluded, the attention turns to the the final 53 roster and the Sept. 8 opener against the Miami Dolphins.

In addition to trimming the roster, Browns general manager Michael Lombardi will also be scanning the waiver wire for additional help and those additional roster moves have not been taken into account.

With the final cuts set to come down by Saturday at 6 p.m. here’s a projection of what the Browns depth chart will look like Saturday evening.

3 Roster spots have been left open to accommodate waiver wire claims.

OFFENSE (24)

WR: Travis Benjamin, David Nelson
LT: Joe Thomas
LG: John Greco, Jason Pinkston
C: Alex Mack, OL Jarrod Shaw
RG: Oniel Cousins, Garrett Gilkey, Shawn Lauvao
RT: Mitchell Schwartz
TE: Jordan Cameron, Gary Barnidge, Kellen Davis
WR: Greg Little, Davone Bess, Josh Cooper
QB: Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, Brian Hoyer
RB: Trent Richardson, Brandon Jackson
FB: Chris Ogbonnaya, Brad Smelley

On the bubble: WR Tori Gurly, RB Jamaine Cook, OL Rashad Butler

Cut: WR Naaman Roosevelt, WR Dominique Croom, WR Mike Edwards, OL Caylin Hauptmann, OL Braxton Cave, OL Aaron Adams, OL Martin Wallace, TE Dan Gronkowski, RB Miguel Maysonet

Notes: The key will be Pinkston and Lauvao. Both had high ankle sprain injuries during camp and the preseason with Lauvao getting a “minor” cleanup done to his ankle. If both are able to come back before week 4, it’s conceivable that the Browns would hold a roster spot for either or both of them. If later, 1 would be a prime candidate for IR-designated to return and be back mid-season. The Browns still need help with their offensive line depth in the short term. With Montario Hardesty and Dion Lewis done for the year, and sub-par production from Brandon Jackson in the preseason, all of the sudden the Browns are thin in the backfield behind Trent Richardson.

Notes: With Slaughter recovering from an Achilles injury in addition to being in and out with various injuries in the preseason the Browns could opt to store him on injured reserve this season to open up another roster spot.
