CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians put a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame touch on their going-away gifts for Derek Jeter.

The New York Yankees shortstop, who hit his first major league home run in Cleveland, made his final regular-season appearance in the city Thursday night. Before the game, the Indians gave him a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar. The white guitar with blue Yankees pinstripes was inscribed with Jeter’s No. 2 and the words, “The Captain.”

Cleveland players Nick Swisher and Jason Giambi, former teammates of Jeter’s with the Yankees, presented him with the guitar. Indians President Mark Shapiro and manager Terry Francona were also on hand for the on-field ceremony.

Wayne Peltz, the Indians’ assistant visiting clubhouse manager, also presented Jeter with a Lego mosaic of the 14-time All-Star hitting his first career homer off Dennis Martinez on opening day of the 1996 season. Peltz has designed mosaics for several other major leaguers.
