Cavs 2016-17 Schedule Announced: Open At Home Against Knicks Oct. 25, Host Warriors On Christmas

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Cavaliers’ 2016-17 season schedule was unveiled Thursday.

The defending NBA champions will raise their championship banner and receive their rings on Oct. 25 when they open at home against the New York Knicks at 8 p.m. before traveling to Toronto 3 days later for an Eastern Conference finals rematch. They will end the regular season at home against the Raptors on April 12 at 8 p.m.

For the second straight year the Cavs and Warriors meet in an NBA Finals rematch on Christmas and on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this time with the locations flipped. They’ll tip at 2:30 at The Q on Christmas and at 8 p.m. at Oracle Arena on Jan. 16 as part of the longest trip of the season – 6 games – from Jan. 6-16.

On Friday Nov. 11 the Cavs visit the Washington Wizards, and with 2 days off before the game, they should have an opportunity to visit President Barack Obama at the White House.

The schedule features 18 sets of back-to-back games, 3 home matinees (Nov. 13 vs. Charlotte 3:30 p.m. ET, Dec. 25 vs. Golden State 2:30 p.m. ET and Jan. 29 vs. Oklahoma City 3:30 p.m. ET), 3-game home stands on 6 occasions (Oct. 29-Nov. 3, Nov. 18-25, Dec. 9-13, Dec. 21-25, Jan. 25-29, March 31-April 4) and 2-game home stands on 4 occasions (Nov. 13-15, Jan. 2-4, Jan. 19-21 and March 14-16).

The Cavs will play a total of 25 nationally televised games on TNT, ESPN, and ABC, including 4 ABC Saturday evening games.
