CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Indians have reached a four-year extension with their Double-A affiliate, the Akron RubberDucks, which will continue their Minor League partnership through at least the 2020 campaign.
“Ken Babby and his team have gone over the top in making Akron a top-of-the-line facility for our players, our staff, and the tremendous fans who come to see them play,” Carter Hawkins, Cleveland Indians Director of Player Development, said in a press release from the team on Monday afternoon.
“It has truly been a partnership, so extending our relationship with the RubberDucks was an easy decision. We couldn’t be more excited to continue the relationship with the team and the city of Akron, and look forward to many years of championship-caliber baseball at Canal Park.”
Currently, 24 players on the Indians’ 40-man roster have spent time at Double-A Akron at some point in their Minor League career.
The RubberDucks play their home games at Canal Park in Akron, OH.
