CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns placed safety Jordan Poyer on injured reserve Tuesday after he sustained a lacerated kidney in their 28-26 loss at Tennessee Sunday.
Considering the severity of the injury, the move was not a surprise. Poyer was released from a Nashville hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Poyer was taken out by Titans running back Antonio Andrews while trying to chase down Titans returner Marc Mariani with 6:33 left in the second quarter. Andrews was flagged and penalized for the blindside hit.
Browns head coach Hue Jackson did not blame Andrews for the hit or consider it dirty.
The Browns elevated defensive back Ed Reynolds to the active roster from the practice squad. Reynolds is in his second season
Poyer, who is the 13th player and fifth starter to land on IR, started all 6 games this season. He is currently third on the team with 36 tackles, while adding 3 special-teams tackles and 2 passes defensed.
