According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, the Cavs are finally getting close to giving LeBron James another pieces he’s been so desperately asking for.
Haynes says in his report that the following big names are expected to be in attendance working out for a potential roster spot with the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers:
Veteran point guards Mario Chalmers and Kirk Hinrich, and wing Lance Stephenson, are scheduled to work out for the Cavaliers on Wednesday, league sources informed ESPN.
A few other free-agent prospects are expected to attend the session, sources say. Depending on how well the participants perform, sources with knowledge of the Cavaliers’ thinking believe one could be signed prior to the All-Star break.
LeBron James has familiarity with those names.
Chalmers won two NBA titles with James in Miami as the starting PG of the Heat, while Stephenson famously guarded, haggled, and annoyed LeBron as a member of the Pacers during the Eastern Conference Finals in 2014.
The Cavs are coming off of an abysmal month of January, capping it with a loss to the Mavericks on Monday night.
Cleveland hosts the Timberwolves at the Q on Wednesday night to begin the month of February.
