CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Indians have signed veteran outfielder Wily Mo Peña to a Minor-League contract, the team officially announced on Monday.
The one-year pact does not include an invitation to big-league camp. Peña is expected to arrive at the club’s Minor-League camp in Goodyear, Arizona in early March.
The 35-year-old slugger has not played in the Majors since 2011, hitting 71 homers in Japan from 2012-2015.
During his MLB career, Peña was known for his massive homers and gigantic strikeout rates (30.3 percent). The right-handed hitter belted 84 career homers from 2002-2011.
