The Cleveland Cavaliers’ sent out a press release Monday afternoon announcing a trade with the Charlotte Hornets.
The Cavs are trading center Chris “Birdman” Andersen to the Hornets for a protected second round NBA Draft pick.
Cleveland also sends Charlotte ‘cash considerations’ as part of the deal.
Andersen signed with Cleveland as a free agent this summer, appeared in 12 games this season before he tore his ACL and went out for the season.
“Birdman” averaged 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds with the Cavs this season.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin adds that the pick Cleveland received in the deal is for 2017.
The move by GM David Griffin now opens up a roster spot for the Cavaliers before the February 23rd trade deadline.
