CANTON (92.3 The Fan) – The 2017 Hall of Fame Game will feature the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Thursday.
The game will be played on August 3rd, 2017 and it will be the first exhibition at the newly reconstructed Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
The stadium, previously known as Fawcett Stadium, was renamed in honor of the owner of the New Orleans Saints, who contributed $10 million towards the $80 million project to rebuild the stadium from the ground up over a 2-year period.
The Cardinals played in the first-ever Hall of Fame Game in 1962 and return to Canton for the fifth time while the Cowboys will make their sixth appearance in the Hall of Fame Game.
The game, which used to be played on Sunday evening following the Hall of Fame class enshrinement ceremony, will now kick off the festivities for the weekend and be played on Thursday night.
This year’s enshrinement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5.
Cowboys’ owner-president-general manager Jerry Jones and former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner are among the 7-man class of 2017 that also includes Morten Anderson, Terrell Davis, Kenny Easley, Jason Taylor and Ladanian Tomlinson.
