Sandusky’s Cedar Point brings thrill-seekers from around the world to Ohio each year. Open seasonally, the park offers theme roller coasters, games and other rides, along with lodging and dining, overlooking Lake Erie. Admission can be paid at the gate, with special pricing for groups. Season passes are available, as well as VIP passes to help patrons experience rides without the wait. Cedar Point is open Sunday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., during summer hours. Hours may vary during other seasons.

Kalahari Waterpark Resort provides an African-themed backdrop to a family-oriented, but adult-friendly, water park. Poolside bars, giant water slides, pools, on-site dining and spa services add to the getaway experience. Guests can visit for the day or plan to stay in one of the resort’s on-site suites. Kalahari has two other locations, in Virginia and Wisconsin. Kalahari Waterpark Resort’s indoor waterpark hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Outdoor waterpark hours are 10 a.m. to dusk, Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offers a bit of wilderness in an otherwise developed city. Aside from the hundreds of animals and habitats to explore, guests can also participate in scheduled zoo activities and seasonal exhibits. The rainforest section of the park is in a separate area, offering guests the feel of being in an actual rainforest, complete with the animals that inhabit such areas. Group discounts are available. Memphis Kiddie Park has been entertaining families in Cleveland since 1952. The park is open from early spring to late fall each year. Feauturing several rides, mini golf, concessions, games and a family-friendly atmosphere, the park offers free admission and parking, requiring guests to pay for ride and activity tickets instead. Memphis Kiddie Park is open Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., from late April to late September each year.
