Tina’s Nite Club
5400 Herman Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44102
(216) 651-8057
Tina’s Nite Club is the rare bar that offers karaoke on a nightly basis, starting at 9:30 p.m. In addition to being one of Cleveland’s best karaoke bars, Tina’s has a reputation as an unassuming “dive” with cheap beer, even cheaper JELL-O shots and an interesting drink menu that includes an alcoholic version of pineapple upside-down cake. Patrons say it’s a great place for karaoke, people-watching and having an authentic “Cleveland” experience. One out-of-towner described the atmosphere as “scary, funny, disturbing and entertaining — all at once.” Tina’s is open 6 p.m. until 2:15 a.m. daily.
Sweethearts Café
3610 Superior Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44114
(216) 881-7777
What do you get when you cross a Chinese restaurant, a cafe and a karaoke bar? In Cleveland, you get Sweethearts Café. Located in what city planners call the Goodrich-Kirtland neighborhood (locals call it Asiantown), Sweethearts Café is a business with multiple personalities, but, hey, it works — especially on karaoke nights. (Call for the upcoming schedule.)
While Sweethearts Café appears to be a typical local restaurant during the day, patrons say the vibe starts rockin’ at night. Sweethearts serves dinner and lunch and offers a full bar. And, if you aren’t confused enough, there’s also an ice cream counter. Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. It is closed Sundays.
Mr. Peabody’s Pub and Grille
4867 Pearl Road
Cleveland, OH 44109
(216) 741-1144
Mr. Peabody’s is located in Brooklyn, a blue-collar neighborhood on the south side of the city. It’s a popular place for hard-working Clevelanders to blow off steam with family, friends and neighbors. The decor is NASCAR-meets-Cleveland-sports. Mr. Peabody’s becomes one of Cleveland’s best karaoke bars on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and is said to attract a range of singers, from the very good to the not so good. But whether you are applauding or laughing, you’ll have fun. The atmosphere is laid back but celebratory. A full bar and food also cater to the after-work crowd. Hours are Monday through Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.; and Friday and Saturday, noon to 2 a.m. Call for Sunday hours.
