A major sports franchises’ mascot goes missing, Olympic swimmers go ‘crazy and Tebow makes his debut in more ways than one at Jets training camp. Those stories and more in this week’s That Thing You Missed.
Tebow Takes It Off
Apparently, you can look even it you can’t touch. As if Tim Tebow wasn’t already the primary focus of Jets training camp, when he stripped off his shirt to run in the rain after practice on Saturday he became a social media sensation. Photos and video of the bare chested trot quickly went viral and Tebow was teased be his teammates. Tebow says he “didn’t think it was going to be such a big deal.” I think his humble nature makes him even more desirable for the ladies. Point Tebow.
SMU Ballers Blame Burglary On ‘Hired Help’
As if questionable intelligence for college football players wasn’t already a problem… Three football players Southern Methodist University claim their home was robbed. No big deal, right? It happens. Only, according to the police report, the suspect is actually a prostitute who the players left in the house while they went to a team banquet. When they got back the lady along with laptops, TV’s and video games were gone.
I’m A U.S. Olympic Swimmer And This Is Crazy
Carley Rae Jepsen’s hit “Call Me Maybe” has spawned dozens of viral videos. And since Olympians are never ones to be outdone – the U.S. Olympic Swimming team recorded their lip-synched version featuring planes, autograph signings and even some underwater shots. They are definitely going for gold.
Monster Of A Mix Up
There was an all points bulletin out in Boston on Friday after Wally the Green Monster costume was reportedly stolen from Fenway Park. Only, that’s not exactly what happened. Wally was seen walking out of the ballpark and wandering around Boston, even posing for pics and shopping at an Apple store.
It turns out the “thief” was a Red Sox employee who “neglected to inform the proper supervisor.” Bobby Valentine where were you on Friday afternoon?
Snooki’s Shore Not Popular At Citi Field
Ok, let’s be honest there’s been a lot to “boo” about at Citi Field since the all-star break but it was a pregnant Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of Jersey Shore fame who got a major Bronx cheer in Flushing, Queens. The reality star’s poor showing caused quite a stir on Twitter, with Keith Olbermann even getting in on the action.
