CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February Thursday.
It is the second time this season that Irving has won the award.
In 10 games during the month, Irving averaged 19.3 points 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting .422 from the field in 35.3 minutes per game.
Although he finished last in the skills competition during All Star weekend, Irving still shined. He was named the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge game featuring rookies and sophomore players.
Irving beat out Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, Detroit’s Brandon Knight and New Jersey’s MarShon Brooks for the award.
