Jadeveon Clowney showed his explosiveness right out of the gate in the 40-yard dash but has skipped on field drills Monday morning at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Clowney was clocked at 4.47 in his first run and 4.48 in his second.
Both times were unofficial and Clowney posted a 4.53 official time but his sprints were impressive. He has not participated in any of the on-field drills for defensive linemen including the short shuttle and the 3-cone drill.
Willie McGinest of the NFL Network reported from the field that Clowney has a tight hip flexor and that he doesn’t want to aggravate the injury.
Clowney registered 37.5 inches at the vertical jump station and 10′ in the broad jump.
Clowney is in contention to be the top pick in May’s NFL Draft.
