Billing itself as “Resale Re-defined” this store was chosen “Best of the West” for 2016. The store carries all women sizes from 0-26, petites and maternity of better brand-name gently used items that are in style and good condition. The store is chocked full of business and casual, smart and stylish apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories that are displayed in a clean, bright and very organized manner. Customers save on average 70 percent off of original retail prices on items purchased directly from customers. There are three Clothes Mentor stores in the Cleveland area including the other two in Strongsville and Mayfield Heights.
It’s creepy and it’s kooky, mysterious and spooky and altogether ooky…it’s Pugsley’s Room. Enter the curiosity shop that bills itself as “the strange bordering on the bizarre.” Items include off the wall books, antique medical tools, weird jewelry, re-purposed dolls, taxidermy preserved critters, re-purposed clothing, art and wall hangings. Items come to the shop via consignments, estate sales, specific orders and works by local artists.
This store specializes in plus sizes for both men (2X up to 8X with pants sizes 40 and up) as well as women (14/16 XL or larger). Items sold are new or gently used garments, shoes, purses and accessories on consignment at fair market value. Items are kept on the floor for eight weeks at full consignment price than two weeks at up to 50 percent off. If not sold the items are donated.
This shop purchases and sells only true vintage clothing that is at least 20 years old with all items coming from the 1940s to the 1990s. Store owner Erin hand picks all items that includes men’s and women’s (as well as unisex) suits, dresses, pants, shirts, jackets, coats, hats, boots, purses and sweaters. In the Cleveland area there are six Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores located in Mayfield Heights, North Randall, Garfield Heights, Brooklyn, Cleveland and of course Strongsville. You can literally outfit your entire home from top to bottom with items found in these stores. All items are donated with 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales going to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers that help over 60,000 people a year. Wednesdays are family day at the stores with most items ½ off. During other days of the weeks different departments receive the same discounts. It is not uncommon to find a suit, shirt, socks, shoes and overcoat ensemble for under $20. All it takes is time enough to go through the thousands of items to find your size and style (dressing rooms are available at all the stores.
This is one of those small shops that literally has something for everyone. Unlike some consignment shops, River Trading carries home accessories such as small furniture, linens, mirrors and artwork. You can find men’s women’s and children’s clothing as well. All items are on 60 day consignment with a 50-50 split.
