May 26, 2015 8:00 AM

Rachel Schlather is a 25 year old Cleveland fashion blogger. She started the blog, CLEfashionista.com in March of 2013 after starting a job in digital marketing, to learn more about the online space. She is obsessed with both fashion and Cleveland, so this blog was the perfect topic for her to blog about. “My mood can totally change when I throw on a good outfit,” Schlather said. “I also love that fashion is always changing and that trends come and go. I love seeing things my mom or grandma used to wear come back into style.” She also writes for a couple of online fashion publications and gets to work with both local and national fashion brands which keep her up to date on hot trends.

Schlather’s fashion philosophy, and advice to fashionistas, is to spend money on classic pieces and not to be afraid to try new trends. She advises not to spend too much on the new trends unless it seems like the trend is here to stay. “This summer is all about relaxed, laid-back, beachy looks that can take you right into a night out,” she said. Schlather shops locally when she can. Some of her favorite local shops include, Wandering Wardrobe, Banyan Tree, and Blackbird Fly Boutique.

Neon

According to Schlather, especially after the brutal winter this year in Cleveland, people are going to be ready to wear some bright neon colors. Bright pink, green and blue pieces will be popular this summer. The sun is not the only brightness this summer with this hot trend. From bathing suits to tanks and dresses, brighten up the summer with some fun neon.

Flowy Tops

These super comfortable, lightweight, sheer and airy tops will definitely be a top trend this summer. They go with just about everything and they are perfect when there is a cooler breeze in the evening or even in the hot sun. Schlather suggests wearing them with jeans, skirts or even as a cover up at the beach. These tops come in fun prints or solids. They are very comfortable and flattering on every physique.

Tassel Accessories

Tassels aren’t just hot on jackets and purses anymore, they will be on all sorts of pieces this summer.”As seen on runways, one of the season’s most fun trends will be accessories embellished with tassels. You will see tassels adorning your favorite bags, shoes, key chains and most definitely, jewelry this season. This trend adds a little flare and fun to any outfit,” she said.

Off The Shoulder Tops And Dresses

Off the shoulder tops and dresses are a great way to take an outfit from day to night or more casual to more dressy. It’s a fun way to get a little bit sassy with one shoulder exposed. “This is a playful way to show some skin without being too revealing,” Schlather said. This look can travel from the beach with shorts or a skirt, to a dinner date or a girl’s night out.

Espadrilles

Back from last summer, the espadrille is still a hot trend for this summer. Designers of all price ranges have gotten on board with this trend, and this year is no different. Whether in sandal form or a flat shoe, espadrilles are very comfortable and will keep that laid back summer feeling alive. Wear them to walk around town, shopping, to the beach or the ballpark to keep the feet comfortable and fashionable.
