Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood is a non-profit, performing arts and arts education center. The Beck has a few different painting classes for adults, including oil painting, watercolors and painting fundamentals, which is an introductory class that teaches the basics of painting. Each class is taught by experienced individuals who are eager to share their knowledge of painting. You can register for classes online in person at the Beck Center Customer Service Desk, by phone or mail.

Artists Uncork’d in Lakewood offers acrylic painting classes for adults. Each month, you can go online and view the calendar to see which designs are scheduled to be painted. Expect to see a lot of Cleveland pride paintings and holiday related themes. Classes cost $35 and the fee includes step-by-step instruction and all the necessary supplies. Most classes last about two hours. Those who are age 21 and up are welcome to bring their own adult beverages to the class to enjoy while painting.

Art House found a home in a 3,000 square foot building on Denison Avenue in Cleveland. This non-profit arts center offers a wide array of painting classes and workshops for adults at all skill levels. Founded in 1999 by local artists, the goal of Art House is to enhance the lives of those in the community by promoting learning through the arts. Most people think of the Cleveland Museum of Art as a place to view and learn about art. The Museum does also offer a variety of adult classes throughout the year. The Painting for Beginners class focuses on oil and acrylic, and teaches about warm and cool colors, wet-into-wet blending, glazing and color mixing. There is also an Introduction to Painting class that teaches about simple techniques with acrylic paints. If you want to learn about watercolors rather than acrylics, the Museum offers three different watercolor classes.

In 2008, Art After Dark began offering paining classes to the people of Cleveland. They recently opened up the doors to their new Superior Avenue studio. The new location is 2,000 square feet and has spectacular views of the city which is sure to help muster up come creativity.
