Swimming is a great activity for kids of all ages. Whether learning the basics of swimming and water safety, or working towards the goal of competitive swimming, the Cleveland area has a lot to offer. Just in time for summer, these five places have classes for children at every every level.
The Swim Of Things

The Swim of Things offers lessons for every level of swimmers and will begin teaching children as young as six-months-old. Known for it’s small class size, The Swim of Things utilizes an indoor pool, so swim lessons are offered year round in a heated pool. Summer sessions begin on June 3 and there are a few different options available, so check their website for updated dates and times. Lessons for kids age 6 months to 3 years are $15 per month and for kids over the age of 3 is $27 each month. Private lessons are available and cost $90 per one hour session or $55 for a 30 minute session.
Goldfish Swim School

Goldfish Swim School offers indoor swim classes for kids age 4 months and up. The pool is kept at a comfortable 90 degrees, so kids will always want to jump right in. Swim programs at Goldfish are broken up into five different groups with no more than four children per instructor. Schedules change daily to meet the needs of families, so call Goldfish to find the class that fits best for you. Fee’s range from $78 per month to $182 per month.
Fast Lane Swimming

Fast Lane Swimming has competitive swimming camps, swim lessons, and CPR and Lifeguard training courses. Learn to swim is designated for kids 6 and up. The lessons follow the American Red Cross level descriptions, and there are levels one through six available. Lessons are $35 per child and will begin some time in May. Learn to Swim takes place at Berea High School, located at 165 East Bagley Road in Berea.
Middleburg Heights Recreation Center

Middleburg Heights Rec Center offers preschool classes for children 18 months to 5 1/2 years old. These classes are taken with a parent in the water. There is an option for preschoolers between the ages of 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 to take lessons with an instructor only. There is also a school age program for kids age 6 and older. Learn to Swim classes begin registration on May 7 for members and May 14 for non-members. Each learn to swim session includes eight lessons. The cost is $35 for member, $45 for non-member residents, and $60 for non-members.
Seven Hills Recreation Center

Classes at the Seven Hills Rec Center focus on safety in and around water. Children can begin these classes as young as 6 months old. There are many different levels that fit specific age groups and swimming ability. Spring sessions begin April 29 and Summer sessions begin on June 10. See their website for different class times. Summer sessions offer morning and evening classes. Cost is $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
