Habitat for Humanity in the Greater Cleveland area has ample opportunities for volunteering with the whole family. Has your daughter always wanted to swing a hammer? Does your son have a great sense of space and like numbers? How much pride would your offspring have after helping to build a home or a school with a group of like-minded individuals? You can volunteer anywhere from the west side of Cleveland, on 110th, to Warrensville Heights. Orientation is held on the west side at the Habitat Administration offices and on the east side at the Habitat ReStore. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a great place to volunteer also — if you’re not handy with building, then maybe organizing is more your style. Help the staff at the Habitat ReStore stock shelves and divide merchandise so customers coming in have a clear idea of all the amazing items to purchase. Cleveland’s Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty and see what they’re made of.

St Malachi’s Catholic Church in downtown Cleveland has ample volunteer opportunities for the family. Working with families, youth groups and the homeless there are many avenues to make a difference in someone’s life — including your own! The Malachi Center founded in 1985 has been working tirelessly for more than 20 years serving the people of Cleveland. The after school and summer programs are offered to children and teens looking for help with school work, reading, computer skills, science, physical activity and so much more. The summer program is vital, giving kids and tweens a safe place to learn and grow for those long summer months. The summer program at the Malachi Center is a free program offered to the children for three or four days a week (depending on grade level) dependent entirely on donations to thrive. At the Malachi Center, you can volunteer during holidays, helping during Thanksgiving and Christmas or for the summer only. The Malachi Center is always looking for people willing to share their time and talents, whether it’s an hour a month, a week or a day there’s a place for your talents.
